On Monday, May 11, Swiatek (seeded 4th) advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rome tournament after a dominant 6:2, 6:1 victory over four-time major champion and former world No.1 Naomi Osaka of Japan (seeded 15th).
According to Opta Ace, since 1975, Swiatek’s 70% win rate in matches against players ranked world No.1 (with a minimum of 20 such encounters) trails only legendary American Serena Williams, who boasts a 72.9% mark (113 wins, 42 losses).
