
Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev secured a hard-fought victory to advance to the fourth round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome.
The 30-year-old, seeded seventh, overcame Spain’s Pablo Llamas Ruiz, ranked 139th in the world, with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 comeback win in the third round.
In the round of 16, Medvedev will face either Italy’s Flavio Cobolli or Argentina’s Thiago Tirante.
Currently ranked ninth in the ATP standings (the highest among Russian players), Medvedev holds 23 career titles. The Rome Masters, with a prize pool of €8.235 million, is scheduled to conclude on May 17.
