Why is there no stage today?
The 2026 Giro d’Italia, like all editions, is divided into 21 stages that take the peloton across various parts of Italy—and this year, part of Bulgaria. The competition reserves rest days to allow recovery. The first pause, on May 11, is primarily for logistical reasons, as teams need to travel from Bulgaria to Italy. The race calendar includes two more rest days, both for recovery purposes.

When is the next stage?
The next Giro d’Italia stage, starting in Catanzaro and finishing in Cosenza, will take place on Tuesday, May 12. It features a 138-kilometer route with an average elevation gain of 1,800 meters and one categorized climb: the Cozzo Tunnio (Category 2, 5.9 km at 11%). Its steepness and strategic placement are expected to heavily influence the stage’s outcome.
