Manchester United and Sunderland played out a goalless stalemate at the Stadium of Light, with the visitors managing just one shot on target throughout the entire match. Goalkeeper Senne Lammens earned the highest rating of 8 out of 10, while striker Zirkzee received a disappointing 2, the lowest of the game.
The dull encounter laid bare Manchester United’s severe struggles in attack. It wasn’t until stoppage time that the team recorded its only effort on goal. Goalkeeper Lammens was the standout performer, producing two crucial saves in each half to deny Noah Sadiki and Brian Brobbey from close range.
The defense put in a mixed display. Mazraoui and Luke Shaw both earned ratings of 6, showing solid defending but lacking attacking support. Harry Maguire also finished with 6, winning his aerial duels effectively. Lisandro Martínez, returning from injury, struggled against Brobbey and received just 4. In midfield, Mainoo earned a 6 for composure in a fierce battle, while Bruno Fernandes got a 5 as he was well-marshaled by the opposition. Mason Mount had little impact with a 3, his limited playing time under Michael Carrick was even more evident in this lackluster showing.
Manchester United’s forwards all underperformed. Amad finished with 4, linking up briefly with Fernandes but often squandering promising attacks and missing a chance to assist Cunha. Cunha also got 4, a sharp contrast to his recent hot form. Zirkzee earned the lowest rating of 2; he lost possession every time he touched the ball, lost every duel, and posed no threat aside from a wayward header, being substituted first. Substitutes Dolgu and Mbeumo didn’t change the game, both receiving 4.
